- In addition to loving a good movie, I am passionate about many things...most of all Lanie, my soulmate and life partner. I enjoy good music of all different kinds, graphic arts, painting and writing ( I especially have a pronounced weakness for historical fiction). I think one of the reasons I have always been fascinated with movies is that they bring all the various disciplines of the arts together - music, writing, art, costuming, sets, etc. etc. And when it all comes together just right, the effect in almost overwhelming. It moves us to tears, to anger, to joy because it magically touches our hearts and souls.
There are three movies that are tied for the honor of having received the most Academy Awards in a particular year. BEN HUR won in 1954 and its record was later equaled by two movies you may have heard of....TITANIC and RETURN OF THE KING (the third installment in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy). The fascinating thing about BEN HUR is that it was made long before computers came along....so ALL the shots are about as real as it gets. Enjoy
